The Best Places For Pet Owners To Live In Europe

pet owners

The UK is a nation of pet lovers. In fact, 77% of households with children are pet owners. For many of us,  life without our four-legged friends would be no kind of life at all.  So, for those who fancy trying life abroad, where are the best, safest and healthiest cities and countries to move to with pets?

The overseas property experts at www.YourOverseasHome.com have undertaken research to reveal the best European cities for pet owners to move to from the UK. They have taken into consideration such vital factors as the stress likely from a flight, pet friendly climates , and quarantine rules and conditions.

Christopher Nye, senior content editor at Your Overseas Home said: “Moving home is never easy, especially when you are moving with the wider family, including children and pets. However, if you want to move abroad, you need to carefully consider the right place for you.

“It’s important to make sure that your new home and country is suitable for your pet. Places such as Oslo, Dublin and Copenhagen are the best places, in our opinion, to move to with your pets. Not only are they short journeys, but they have the ideal temperature conditions for your pet to be happy in its new surroundings.”

The three best cities for pet owners to move to, across Europe, from the UK are:

  1. Oslo, Norway

Oslo, Norway has been revealed as the best place in Europe to move to from the UK with pets. With an average flight time of around one and a half hours from the UK to Norway’s capital, Oslo is just a short distance away and makes the perfect destination for people to move to.

Oslo has a low average yearly temperature of 7.2C5, with high temperatures only reaching 18C  during the peak summer months. This means that it’s the ideal place for dogs to be walked in summer avoiding the  threat from extreme heat and hot road surfaces. Some breeds thrive in colder temperatures, such as Huskies and Malamutes. You should be cautious with smaller dogs like Italian Greyhounds and Chihuahuas though, as they may need a warm coat for the chillier days.

  • Dublin, Ireland

Dublin, Ireland has been crowned the second best place in Europe to move to from the UK with your pets. The flight time from the UK is nice and short, sitting at only one hour from London to Dublin, meaning that your pets won’t struggle too much on the plane. In fact, you’d be able to get a ferry with your pets if you were moving from the UK to Ireland, which would be much easier for both you and your furry friends. Also, with the temperature and climate not being too dissimilar from England and other parts of the UK, it makes the perfect destination for pets to move to.

  • Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen in Denmark has been revealed to be the third best city in Europe for pet owners to move to. With average yearly temperatures sitting at 9C, it’s the perfect temperature for walking dogs on pavements without having to worry about exposing them to high levels of heat.

Also, when travelling to Copenhagen, pets don’t need to spend any time in quarantine, which is a positive thing not only for pets, but also for pet owners, meaning that they spend less time without their pets.
