Pöyry win Thailand Power Plant Projects
Pöyry has been awarded owner’s engineer services assignments for three power plant projects in Thailand.
B.Grimm Power Limited has awarded Pöyry with owner’s engineer services assignment for Amata B.Grimm Power (Rayong) 3, 4 & 5 gas-fired combined cycle power plant projects in Thailand. The assignment includes project management, engineering review, Quality Assurance and Control surveillance and site supervision services.
The projects consist of 3 blocks each of 120 MW combined cycle / cogeneration power plants. The sites lie within the Amata City Industrial Estate, Rayong Province, Thailand, some 120 km south east of Bangkok. The plants are embedded within the industrial estate private power network, providing efficient and reliable electricity and steam to industrial consumers and electricity to the national grid.
The projects are part of the B. Grimm Power Limited’s strategy to construct 16 power plants with a combined capacity of 2 GW by 2019.
“We are very pleased to continue our decades-long cooperation with B.Grimm Power in their power plant projects. These awards further strengthen our position in the Thermal Power & Renewable Energy field in Thailand, where we have had a substantial role in the design and construction of about 50 power plant projects and are the leading international power sector consulting engineering company in the country. Globally, we are currently involved in more than 30,000 MW of thermal power plant projects working for the project owners”, says Dr Raffael Schubiger, Head of Thermal Power at Pöyry.
The value of the orders is not disclosed. Each order will be recognised within the Energy Business Group order stock upon receiving the notice to proceed, with the order for the first project expected to be recognised in Q4 2015.
