Kentz wins Iraq FEED ExxonMobil contract

Kentz, who are a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, have been awarded a contract by ExxonMobil, for the new oil processing facility to increase its production at the West Qurna 1 oil field in Iraq.

Kentz, with their regional partner, is providing the front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning and start-up of the new facility, capable of producing an annual average of 100,000 stock tank barrels of crude oil per day.

The facility, located in the province of Al Basra, will be designed to process full well stream fluids from the production wellhead area and separate them into associated gas, untreated produced water, and stable product crude for export.

The project will be executed out of the company’s Abu Dhabi engineering hub, with support from its Dubai operations and is expected to be completed in 26 months.

This project is critical for the West Qurna 1 overall development plan and this contract highlights key advantages that the integration brings to the company’s overall capability to service key clients.

Are you taking family with you?

The HSBC Expat Explorer survey indicates that expat kids can take six months to settle in to their new country (see article). Getting young or even older children to prepare to move and leave their friends and family behind can be a challenge and should be thought through.

The options for education is another area that needs to be thought through.

Moving your child to a new country with a different education system can be a great opportunity to broaden their experience, but if they are close to key exams the timing can make this inadvisable. If you do take your family with you, it is important to decide between joining the local school system or choosing an international school.

Where will you be living?

Whether you will be living in a house or apartment, furnished or unfurnished, these decisions will affect what you need to take with you.
