Jacobs JV wins Abidjan PMC contract
Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced that Jacobs Engineering SA (JESA), the company’s joint venture with OCP S.A. (OCP), was awarded a contract to provide project management consultancy (PMC) services to the African Society of Investments and Infrastructure (SA2I) for the Intercity Bus/Metro Station in Abidjan in the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
JESA is providing PMC services for a capital expenditure of approximately $80 million.
Located on a 25-hectare site, the new station, the Gare Routiere d’Abidjan, is expected to have a capacity of 25 million passengers a year and is the first in the country.
In making the announcement, Jacobs President Buildings and Infrastructure Bob Pragada stated, “Abidjan is the Côte d’Ivoire’s main hub for international bus lines, and this new metro project is expected to make a significant contribution to the modernization of the road transport system and improved customer experience. We look forward to leveraging our wide-ranging transportation experience to help deliver this important infrastructure program.”
In addition to the new project and as part of future growth plans, JESA is expanding its presence in the region with a new office in Abidjan, expected to be opened by the end of 2016.
JESA is equally owned by OCP and Jacobs. It provides services to industrial projects in Morocco and internationally.
