Hyflux wins deal to build desal plant in Saudi Arabia

Hydrochem Saudi Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyflux Group (Hyflux), has been awarded a contract by Snamprogetti Saudi Arabia Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Saipem S.p.A.

(Saipem) to design, manufacture and supply a seawater reverse osmosis and sulphate removal facilities package in Khurais, Saudi Arabia. The project value is approximately US$ 50.4 million. “This win underscores Hyflux’s growing presence in the Middle East region and our expertise in designing high specification plants for industrial customers,” said Ms Olivia Lum, Executive Chairman and Group CEO of Hyflux.

The Khurais oil field, is located approximately 150 km northeast of Riyadh. Italian group Saipem is the engineering and construction
contractor for the project to expand the daily production capacity at the Khurais Central Processing Facility by 300,000 barrels of oil from the current 1,200,000 barrels.

The contract is to be fulfilled over one year, and is expected to contribute to the financials of Hyflux for the financial year ending 31 December.

Are you taking family with you?

Moving with family raises many exciting opportunities, but also can create challenges. The HSBC Expat Explorer survey indicates that expat kids can take six months to settle in to their new country (see article). Getting young or even older children to prepare to move and leave their friends and family behind can be a challenge and should be thought through.

The options for education is another area that needs to be thought through.

Moving your child to a new country with a different education system can be a great opportunity to broaden their experience, but if they are close to key exams the timing can make this inadvisable. If you do take your family with you, it is important to decide between joining the local school system or choosing an international school.

Whether you will be living in a house or apartment, furnished or unfurnished, these decisions will affect what you need to take with you.
