GE Oil & Gas awarded Oman contract

Edgo’s partner in Oman, GE Oil & Gas, has signed a landmark, long-term contract with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) for the provision of integrated Reciprocating Rod Pump (RRP) equipment and related services. The deal forms part of a US$700 million suite of contracts, unveiled by GE at their annual conference in Florence, Italy.

Joining hands with its regional partner, Edgo, this is GE’s first-ever contract awarded by PDO for the provision of integrated RRP equipment and services.

This major contract will commence during Q2 2016 and will be aligned with PDO’s ‘In Country Value’ initiative which aims to promote localized manufacturing, develop Local Community Contractors and strengthen Omani talent development through training programs.

The PDO spokesperson said: “This contract marks the first-ever integrated approach in the installation and service of RRP systems, which will contribute significantly in addressing all associated logistical challenges and enhance our operational efficiency.”

As part of the deal, GE will provide a wide range of specialized equipment including Lufkin Beam Pumps and Lufkin Automation Products.

“We are proud of this strong start to 2016, reflecting the growing pull for our unmatched global full stream offer and digital industrial capabilities,” said GE Oil & Gas president & CEO, Lorenzo Simonelli.

“This shows that innovation and flexibility, built on foundations of partnership, advanced insights and technology, continue to resonate with the oil and gas sector. Now more than ever, our customers are looking to GE for the best minds and machines to optimize their technology and operations, from wellhead to refinery.”

Edgo is a leader in system integration, manufacturing and assembly in Oman. At the Edgo Services Center in Muscat, skilled local workers assemble Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and Telemetry Systems and integrate artificial lift surface packages and related equipment; these products are supplied to GE.

Mohammed Abu-Salah, Edgo’s general manager in Oman said: “Edgo has a long and proud history of providing services to Oman’s oil and gas industry. We have been operating in the country for over 40 years and we look forward to deploying the knowledge and experience built up over this time in our partnership with GE and PDO.”
