Drake & Scull win $33.4m retail project
Drake & Scull, the leading engineering and construction company who are based in the U.A.E., has been awarded a $33.4 million contract for an upcoming mixed-use development in Dubai’s Jumeirah district to provide a new dimension to the emirate’s leisure and trade segment.
The company’s subsidiary Drake & Scull Engineering (DSE) will be delivering mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works for the iconic 72,000 sq m of retail space in Dubai, said the company in a statement.
The project is expected to be completed by next year, it added.
As per the terms of the agreement, DSE will develop food and beverage (F&B) concepts and retail outlets along with the shell and core parking facilities. Its scope of work includes supply, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of complete MEP works.
Ahmad Al Naser, the managing director of DSE, said: “We are excited to have been chosen by the developers who have envisioned a unique high profile beachfront retail concept that will prove to be an iconic milestone on the renowned Jumeirah skyline.”
“A retail project of such prominence and scale is a significant challenge for our engineering division and will be an eminent addition to our high-profile portfolio. Our experience with large scale retail developments such as the ongoing Mall of Emirates expansion in Dubai, as well as the rapidly progressing Mall of Qatar in Doha will prove vital in the construction of this project,” noted Al Naser.
DSE, he stated, was well poised to undertake more projects as part of the UAE’s infrastructure and real estate development program that is gathering steam in preparation for World Expo 2020.
“We are optimistic about our prospects to secure more project wins across the Mena region as we further consolidate our position as a regional leader in the core engineering sector,” he added.
