Astaldi and Türkeler win $1bn contract
A joint venture between Italian construction group Astaldi and Turkish firm Türkeler has announced that it has won a deal to build and operate one of the largest healthcare facilities in the world.
The $980m contract is for the Etlik Integrated Health Campus in Ankara, Turkey, and the total investment amounts to $1.2bn
Astaldi’s contract involves the construction and operation of a specialised hospital facility that will provide 3,566 beds and occupy an area of 1 million square metres.
The construction of a hotel is also planned, together with a conference centre, commercial areas, a car park offering 11,000 spaces and a range of medical equipment.
The project has been commissioned by the Turkish Ministry of Health, but international and domestic financial institutions have helped to finance the project.
Astaldi will hold a 51% stake in the venture and Türkeler will have a 49% stake.
The signing ceremony was held in Ankara and was attended by the Mehmet Muezzinoglu, the minister of health.
