Aibel awarded Glen Lyon FPSO contract
Aibel has been awarded a contract for yardstay and assistance with the final preparations of the Glen Lyon FPSO. The vessel arrives in Haugesund today.
With a length of 270 metres and a width of 52 metres, Glen Lyon will become the largest FPSO (Floating Production Storage Offloading) ever to dock at Aibel Haugesund. The vessel is expected to stay in Haugesund for about two months. During its stay a considerable amount of yard employees will be engaged with the assignment. The work has been prepared since the summer of 2015.
The stay in Haugesund will be the FPSO’s final stop on its journey towards the Schiehallion field. Aibel will assist BP with Glen Lyon’s final preparations. The assignment includes e.g. various marine operations and fabrication activities. Aibel will also assist BP with a function test of a mechanical winch, and will be making yard facilities and services available.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming Glen Lyon to Haugesund. The FPSO will arrive at the same time as we are stepping up the activity in the Johan Sverdrup project. The scene is set for an exciting spring with a high activity level at the yard,” says EVP Yard Haugesund, Bjørn Tollefsen.
