Mace subsidiary wins Doha FM contract
Mace subsidiary Macro has won the facilities management contract for the Doha Exhibition & Convention Centre in Qatar.
The contract with Venue Pro Management is for managed services and computer aided facilities management.
The three-year contract covers a total gross area of 47,700m2 and includes five exhibition halls of approximately 29,000m2 with 18m-tall ceilings. The venue is overseen by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and managed by a joint venture between Fira Barcelona International and Elan Group.
Services to be provided by Macro, in partnership with Debbas Enterprise, include operation and maintenance, specialist maintenance, CAFM, cleaning, façade cleaning, landscaping, parking operational management and pest control.
Barry Clarke, general manager for Macro KSA and Qatar, said: “We are honoured to be working with DECC on such an iconic building in Doha and are looking forward to building a long lasting relationship with both DECC and Debbas Enterprise.”
The exhibition centre provides 96m by 300m of column-free space. It has a flat roof construction, consisting of a composite slab that is supported by a steel box compression chord and a parabolic cable tension chord. The concrete ‘super columns’ supporting the roof structures are 18m-high, tapering from 2m in diameter to 1m, with specially designed bearings to support the roof.
