Pöyry win thermal power plant project, Cambodia
Cambodian Energy II Co. Ltd. has awarded Pöyry with an owner’s engineer services assignment for CEL II, a 150 MW coal-fired power plant project in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Cambodian Energy II Co. Ltd is a project company established in Cambodia by Leader Energy Ltd.
The CEL II project consists of one 150 MW unit. The plant will be built adjacent to the existing CEL I 100 MW coal-fired power plant in Sihanoukville.
Pöyry’s assignment includes assistance in project management, design review, site supervision services, quality assurance and quality control and commissioning services. The overall schedule for Pöyry’s services is about 3 years.
This is a continuation of Pöyry’s earlier assignment in the same project where Pöyry has been involved in the project as Owner’s Engineer during the development phase, providing technical advisory services to the project developer.
“After successfully working together in the project development stage, we are pleased to continue our good co-operation with Cambodian Energy II and Leader Energy in executing this important project. The new CEL II plant will be the most efficient steam power plant in Cambodia once completed. The plant will provide cost-competitive electricity to people in Cambodia, which is experiencing rapid power demand growth with household electrification ratio expected to continue increasing from the current 60% level” says Petteri Härkki, Regional Director of Pöyry.
