Hyundai HH wins Kaliningrad FLNG tender
Hyundai Heavy Industries, South Korea’s shipbuilder, has been awarded a Gazprom Flot tender to build a floating LNG terminal in Kaliningrad, Russia.
“The possibility of delivering LNG by sea will substantially increase the energy security of the Kaliningrad Region, taking into account its peculiar geographic location,” Gazprom said.
The company intends to build an LNG regasification terminal on the Baltic coast, which will be linked with the existing gas pipeline near the Kaliningradskoye underground gas storage facility, thus making it possible to supply gas to consumers in the Region and to feed it into the underground storage.
According to the company’s website it is planned that already in late 2017 the terminal will be able to receive first LNG but it will be subsequently replaced by the Baltic LNG project.
