Cofely Besix win UAE contract
Cofely Besix Facility Management, a leading facilities management provider has been awarded a three-year contract by Abu Dhabi Ports Company for the maintenance of the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) in the UAE.
Kizad is the flagship project of Abu Dhabi Ports Company, and consists of a world-class offshore port, and an integrated industrial zone covering approximately 420 sq km, said a statement.
This services contract is focused on the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the storm and ground water pumping stations, as well as the sea water inlet/outlet facilities.
Coordination with the port authorities and stakeholders is one of the key roles in relation to the sea water cooling system, which requires regular underwater inspections and cleaning duties.
Ian Harfield, CEO of Cofely Besix, said: “The sea water cooling system requires the specialist services of four divers and a supervisor to complete the daily maintenance of the culvert and intake screen cleaning, as well as the underwater pipe survey.”
“Meanwhile, the ground and storm water system keeps the Kizad area free from accumulating ground water by means of a storm water drainage system composed of six lifting stations and five pumping stations,” he added.
As the contract covers the infrastructure systems for the port, ADPC also requested that CBFM carry out a comprehensive asset condition survey as part of the mobilisation plan, which was completed along with all remedial works within the first two months, it added.
