Montgomery International school Brussels is located in the city center, close by the European institutions. We welcome students from grade 1 to 12. We are a fully accredited Internationale Baccalaureate continuum school (IB). Thanks to its central location and internationalism, in bteween students and staff members we have about 40 different nationalities.

Located at the center of Brussels, close to the European institutions and many public transport lines, stores, houses, etc., we can also enjoy a pleasant neighborhood and living environment between city and nature despite this central location. Indeed, the Soignes forest, one of the largest peri-urban forests in Europe, is only a few minutes away by public transport.

We welcome students from Primary 1 to Secondary 6 (grades 1 to 12) and are an accredited school of the International Baccalaureate continuum.

In elementary school, students follow a bilingual French/English program.

In middle and high school, they can choose between a bilingual (French/English) program or an Anglophone program, with French as a second language.

We place special emphasis on academic excellence, of course, but above all on the personal development of the children and their physical and psychological well-being. The teaching method is a dynamic one, based on research, children’s initiative and autonomy. The diploma obtained at the end of secondary school is recognized worldwide and by many prestigious universities.

The size of the school allows us to enjoy and appreciate the community in all its aspects, ease of communication with the teachers, regular monitoring of the children, their progress or potential extra needs.

Initial Considerations

Will your partner be travelling with you?

If so, what will they be giving up in your present home and will they be able to continue with their career in your new home? You will need to check whether a separate visa is required for your partner to work or if your visa gives that right. If they are unable to work you will need to decide on the effect on your finances and what alternatives are available to give a fulfilling life (home business, training, voluntary work).

Are you taking family with you?

Moving with family raises many exciting opportunities, but also can create challenges. The HSBC Expat Explorer survey indicates that expat kids can take six months to settle in to their new country (see article). Getting young or even older children to prepare to move and leave their friends and family behind can be a challenge and should be thought through.

The options for education is another area that needs to be thought through.

Moving your child to a new country with a different education system can be a great opportunity to broaden their experience, but if they are close to key exams the timing can make this inadvisable. If you do take your family with you, it is important to decide between joining the local school system or choosing an international school.

Where will you be living?

Whether you will be living in a house or apartment, furnished or unfurnished, these decisions will affect what you need to take with you.
