AmecFW awarded Singapore EPCM contract
Amec Foster Wheeler wins world-scale methionine facility contract in Singapore:
• Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management (EPCM) contract
• Second world-scale production plant by Evonik for the amino acid DL-methionine in Singapore
• Targeted capacity of 150,000 metric tons per annum
Amec Foster Wheeler announces today it has been awarded the basic engineering and Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management (EPCM) contract by Evonik Methionine SEA Pte. Ltd for its second methionine plant complex in Singapore.
Amec Foster Wheeler’s role has begun with basic engineering and cost estimate support activities and will evolve into the EPCM phase before the end of 2016. The expected plant start-up and commercial operation is set for 2019.
With an annual production capacity of 150,000 metric tons, the facility will produce the amino acid DL-methionine for animal nutrition which Evonik markets under the MetAMINO® brand name. The construction of the plant complex is planned next to the existing Evonik methionine plant on Jurong Island in Singapore. Its location allows Evonik to serve especially well the Asian growth markets.
