VINCI Construction to build future CNIT
SNCF Network has awarded VINCI Construction – through its subsidiaries VINCI Construction France (leader), VINCI Construction Grands Projets, Dodin Campenon Bernard, Soletanche Bachy France and Boot Foundations – in consortium with Spie Batignolles TPCI and Spie Foundations, achieving new railway station of La Defense and its adjacent tunnels.
The work entrusted to the group, amounting to 496 million euros, will form part of the extension of RER line E to the west of Paris (Aeolus). Initial work will begin in summer 2016 and will be completed in 61 months. The operation will involve 700 companions at the height of activity. It represents four million hours worked over 300 000 will be made as part of integration jobs.
With this project, VINCI Construction confirms its expertise in managing large projects and expertise in underground works and foundations.
A complex work in an emblematic site: CNIT
The operation involves the construction of the new La Défense station under the CNIT dome. The high-tech project involves the construction of an underground cathedral while supporting existing structures and maintaining the site in operation.Offices, shops and the hotel CNIT will indeed remain active during the construction period.
Besides the underpinning work CNIT, will also be made: a kilometer tunnels, a well 40 meters deep and 15 meters in diameter and numerous underground pedestrian corridors especially for the RER connection E with the RER A the lines L and U Transilien and Tramway T2.
A technical feat in the heart of the business district of La Défense
The major challenge of the project is to intervene in the dense urban environment and La Défense complex work requiring the excavation of 350 000 m3 of excavated material.
An ambitious project that opens the way to the Grand Paris
The extension of RER line E will significantly reduce the travel time from hundreds of thousands of Ile and thus improve their daily lives. The extension of Line E and the new CNIT La Défense station will offer travelers a better quality of service and meshing with the other RER lines and the future of the Grand Paris Express network.
This new construction project comes in the wake of other operations already conducted by VINCI in Europe’s largest business district. In December last year, the Group announced construction of Trinity, an innovative new skyscraper on which works will be completed in the second half of 2018.
