Main Responsibilities include:

· Repair, calibrate and maintain platform instrumentation systems

· Monitor for possible instrument malfunctions

· Conduct and review the results of tests run in control room and ensure their reliability and accuracy

· Conduct special tests on platform instrumentation as required

· Ensure the installation, calibration and testing of platform instrumentation is conducted in accordance with Company requirements and statutory Government standards.

· Ensure the required supply of spare parts are available, prepares and requisitions items required.

· Keep records and reports up to date and to a high standard

· Maintain good housekeeping conditions in workshop and work sites

· Check out work covered by commissioning/acceptance documentation to ensure systems are as outlined/operational and signs documentation to this effect

· Working on F&G and ESD systems

Main Duties:

• Loop checks and commissioning all field instrument

• Calibration and functional checks of all types of smart instruments, sensors and final control elements

• Working on Foundation Fieldbus instruments

• Pre-commissioning and commissioning activities

• Line walking and clearing punch lists

• Instrumentation Data Sheet Verification.

• Interpretation of Loop Drawing, Instrument Cabling & Terminations, Cable Schedule, Hook-Up Drawing, and P&ID Drawings.

• Troubleshooting for all Fields Instruments during Loop Check, Start-up and Commissioning Activities.

• Have PA and CEP status on the Clair Ridge

The Shearwater is a high pressure/high temperature gas production platform where I am a member of the core crew maintenance team. Day to day duties include:
 Planned and unplanned maintenance including fault finding, problem solving and diagnosing issues that could have an adverse effect on safety and production.
 Routine, preventative and break down work carried out on instrumentation associated with high pressure, high temperature, flow and level throughout the process.
 Working on ICS Triplex Fire and Gas system and understanding associated cause and effects of H2S, Heat, Flame, Carbon Dioxide and Line of sight detectors. Regularly work on the deluge system and also Fine Water Spray Systems.
 Working with Honeywell DCS and Yokagawa ESD systems, always looking to improve knowledge from TCI and more experienced Technicians.
 Maintenance on Solar Turbine instrumentation including condition monitoring instrumentation.
 Exposure to commissioning of new and replacement instrumentation
 Creating permits

I am currently CIP on Shearwater as well as PA and IA with good knowledge of ISSOW and SAP systems. Recently P-Vision has replaced ISSOW and I am currently improving my competence with the system daily.
I ensure my permitry is of high standard and the task is fully understood as well as ensuring job histories are detailed and all necessary information is attached and forwarded to the relevant department.

 Employed as AD-HOC to assist within the Instrument Technician Maintenance team.
 Fault finding, general repairs, installation and routine testing.
 By applying myself and working hard I took many positive steps in my overall ability as an Instrument Technician which led to me being offered a full time core crew position on the Shearwater.

 Further improved practical skills working alongside experienced Instrument Technicians.
 Learned about plant and process through completion of 5 POL examinations.
 Added to my knowledge and ability by completing Level 3 SVQ.
 Worked on my communication skills and understanding of process and procedures to work safely and effectively.

 Learned the basics of Instrumentation and Control.
 Completed multi-skill courses.
 Built up basic practical ability as well as knowledge.
 Passed final examination with an A.
