CAREER SUMMARY

I have over forty years’ experience in mechanical/piping engineering in the Oil & Gas Industry. (LNG/LPG) I have also worked on power generation, conventional and nuclear, Coal-fired new builds. I have been involved in Shutdown (TAR), construction, commissioning, start-up & maintenance projects. Building of work packages. I have held positions as a Mechanical Superintendent, Supervisor, On-The-Job Trainer and Inspector, working with and supervising multi-national workforces in Europe, Africa, the Middle and Far East. I am more than willing to be Hands-On with tools where required.

TRAINING & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Served a four-year Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship between 1975/80 with the British Steel Corporation, Redcar, Cleveland. Apprenticed as a Mechanical Fitter. Reg. No.75/0494.
The training involved eighteen months at the company training center then gaining experience at several plant locations incorporating all aspects of mechanical engineering practices within the organization.

Position: Mechanical Fitter Jan. 2020 – March. Then furloughed
Contracted to Bilfinger UK on the HMD Synthesis Shutdown. Removal, refurbishment and installation of Control, Gate, Butterfly & Relief valves. Opening, Inspection of Vessels & Columns.

Position: Shutdown Mechanical Supervisor Mar. – July 2019
Contracted to Jenkins & Davies on the COD1,2,2DHT and Merox shutdown. From Decommissioning to Recommissioning with zero accidents. Removal/Refurbishment/Installation of Heat Exchangers, Vessels, Columns Valves, Pumps, Heaters, Compressors using P&ID Drawings. Receiving and signing off Work Permits, utilizing a workforce of Fitters/Pipefitters, Welders, Platers Riggers, Scaffolders and Laggers. Hands-on when required.

Position: Mechanical Maintenance Technician. Aug. 2013 – Jan. 2019
This company is a major timber supplier and I was responsible for the installation and maintenance of woodcutting, forming and routing machinery. Involved in the Installation of a new dust extraction system and Biomass boiler along with all ancillary equipment, Pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps and valves.
Repairs and breakdowns of associated equipment within the factory with zero accidents/incidents.

Position: Mechanical Supervisor. March 2013 – June 2013
Contracted to Bilfinger Industrial Services on the PU shutdown project.
Duties involved accepting work permits and control of all works on night shift. Responsible for all fitters, riggers, scaffolders and electricians. Work involved isolation and opening of the Thermal Oxidiser, removal and reinstating of PCV’s, FCV’s, NRV’s. Signing off all permits.

On this Shutdown project I was contracted to Doosan Babcock Power Systems on COD3 Plant. Activities included Pre-Shutdown works, removal, refurbishment and re-installation of exchangers, (Hydro-testing of tube/shell side of exchangers) control, safety and gate valves. Fin-Fans/Distillation Columns and thermowells while supervising a team of 12 Technicians. Issuing and signing off all Work Permits.

Position: Shutdown Mechanical Supervisor. Jan. 2012 – May 2012
On this major shutdown I was responsible for the pre-shutdown activities, correction of work packages and related drawings on the A5 acids area carrying out the isolations, removal, installation, inspection, and hydro-testing of approx. 30 heat exchangers and pressure vessels, 40 control and relief valves, piping mods. with a team of between 8 and 15 technicians. Signing on and off of all permits to work. Punching out of all completed work.

Company: Alstom Power Systems (Germany) Maritza East 1 Power Station Project, Galabovo, Bulgaria.
Position: Mechanical Construction Supervisor. Dec. 2009 – Aug. 2010.
On this major coal-fired power station project (2x300 MW) I was responsible for the installation of mechanical/piping equipment for three Fly Ash Silos, overseeing the sub-contractor's work, building work packages, carrying out and signing off inspections of completed systems with the Client. (AES – America) Equipment/Systems included Atlas-Copco compressors, blowers and fans, numerous pneumatic valves. Purge,
instrument and control air piping systems. Signing of all work permits. Assisting in the commissioning of Mechanical equipment. Achieved project completion with zero incidents.

Company: Kuwait Petroleum Company (Q8) Europort, Rotterdam, Holland.
Position: Field Supervisor. Feb. 2008 – Oct. 2009
For the duration of this Major Project I was employed by Balfour Beatty Management representing the Client (KP) Providing technical expertise and guidance for the personnel in the Crude area for Drums and Towers. Advising on manning levels, duration and cost estimates. Completed project with no lost time incidents.

My responsibilities involved the supervision of subcontractor’s activities for Rotating Equipment such as building work packages, installation, verification, testing, inspection and commissioning of Compressor skids, Lube Oil Consoles, Cryogenic Expanders, Pump Package Units, Fin-Fans, Gas Turbine Generators, Heat Recovery & Steam Generation Units.
Coordination with the client’s representatives, other discipline groups and vendor service engineers.
(Vendors include Mitsubishi, Siemens, Nouvo Pignone, Air Products, Deltak)
To review the construction procedures and schedules of as-built/construction drawings prepared by Vendors and Client.

Company: Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Co. Ltd. (ADGAS) Das Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Position: Mechanical Supervisor. (Staff Position) Oct. 2003 – Aug. 2006
This plant comprises three LNG/LPG trains, producing LNG, Propane, Pentane, Butane and Sulphur. Responsible for day-to-day maintenance activities, breakdowns, troubleshooting, fault analysis and overhaul of plant machinery/equipment, including multi-stage reciprocating compressors, gas and steam turbines, centrifugal pumps, emergency fire and foam systems, cranes and associated equipment for the Tank Storage, Jetty, Ship Loading and certain Process and Utility areas.
I supervised and exercised direct control of the Mechanical Maintenance Group ensuring all work is carried out in conformance with the Health, Safety and Environmental Management System. Carry out risk assessments and Safety Audits. Fill out and accept work permits (Performing Authority), sign off work orders, keep daily/weekly reports/timesheets, enter equipment history / fault codes into SAP’s computer system

Shedgum Gas Plant De-bottlenecking Project, Saudi Arabia. I was responsible for the installation, commissioning and start-up of all rotating equipment using a multinational workforce. Machinery included Coppus/Terry Turbines, Hoffman Blowers, Hamworthy Compressors, Nuovo Pignone, Goulds and Dresser pumps.
Planning & Implementation of all machinery preservation activities.
Field verification and constructability checks on all mechanical drawings associated with the project.
