Initially I was responsible for Profit and Loss of the Fire, Safety and Security, and PLC based Building Automation Systems business in Qatar including achievement of annual business targets with focus on:

• Project delivery and execution in full compliance with contract requirements and standards, on time and on budget.
• Delivery of quality service and maintenance support to Customers.

Since March 2013 I have had specific responsibility for the delivery of Sidra Hospital turnkey ICT/ELV project (value in excess of US$ 100 million) as the Lead Partner in a Consortium with Atos. The works scope covers 25 subsystems including, for example: Data Center, Data Networks (hardwired and wireless), Security/Surveillance, Fire Detection, Audio Visual and Background Music, Patient Entertainment and IPTV Systems and ,Nurse Call System. At the peak time I was responsible directly and through subcontractors, for 1,200 staff and workers.

Projects included:
• Sidra Hospital ICT ELV System (as above): US$ 100+ million
• Qatar Foundation New HQ: Security and Building Automation (PLC): US$ 10 million
• Qatar Foundation Education City PLC Building Automation Systems: 6 projects: US$ 10+ million

• P & L for West Coast (Revenue Business) Operations (in San Francisco, Los Angeles and West Hollywood).
• Bid/Capture Management, for a $35 - $40 million outsourcing opportunity for parking ticket processing in the City and County of San Francisco. This included the identification and implementation of a stakeholder management plan to ensure the company was well placed: the stakeholders were primarily high ranking City Officials and politicians.
• Identification, and development, of other business opportunities in the Transport and Security Sectors in the San Francisco Bay Area. These include fare evasion schemes (on public transport), new technologies for parking control and enforcement etc.

Serco Group Asia Pacific (Hong Kong)

I was responsible for the implementation of Transport Systems related projects in the Asia Pacific Region from an operational base in Hong Kong.
• Project Director for a Joint Venture between Serco Group (HK) Limited, Serco Limited (UK), and KML (Hong Kong Engineering Company) responsible for a HK$ 80 million contract to design, supply and install a Traffic Control and Surveillance System on the Hong Kong – Shenzhen Western Corridor Highway across the Deep Bay between Hong Kong and mainland China.
• Project Director for a Serco Joint Venture conducting the initial software development design study for the Roads and Traffic Authority of New South Wales in Sydney, for a Bus Operating System and Public Transport Information and Priority System for bus operations.
• Bid Manager for technology projects related to Transport Systems market sector, for example, Transport Information System for Hong Kong Transport Department and Replacement of Traffic Control and Surveillance System for Cross Harbour Tunnel, Hong Kong.

Serco Management Services Inc (San Francisco)
Project Director - San Francisco Parking Management System

I held financial, contractual and operational responsibility for a US$ 35 million five year contract to provide Parking Meter Services to the City and County of San Francisco, with responsibility for Serco staff and unionized subcontractors:

• Installation of 25,000 electronic parking meters to a very aggressive 6 month schedule, throughout the City of San Francisco: a significant logistical exercise, including the design of custom vehicles to facilitate operations.
• Development and implementation of a software based Financial and Maintenance Audit Management System (on the City IT Network)
• Design and build of a custom coin counting facility processing 500,000 coins a day, where health and safety features had been a priority parameter.
• Implementation of daily revenue collection and coin counting services.

A key part of the role was ‘Stakeholder Management’ where the stakeholders included high ranking City Officials (including the Mayor of San Francisco) and Politicians (the City Board of Supervisors).

Serco IAL Systems (South Korea)
Project Manager - Incheon International Airport

Serco-IAL was a partner in the Hyundai Information Technology Consortium responsible for the installation of the security system at the new Inchon International Airport, South Korea. The system included interfaces to other airport systems including the backbone network (TAMS), FIDS, Baggage Handling etc. The Consortium Partners included two Korean companies and one Japanese company. Serco’s labor only contract was valued in excess of £3 million (US$4.5 million).

I was responsible to the Managing Director for all matters relating to the project.

This included managing a team of European Engineers and Korean Interpreters/Administrators providing the following services to the Consortium and to the Customer, Incheon International Airport Corporation:

• Management Support and Advice
• Technical Expertise and Design Approval
• Risk Assessment
• Installation and Commissioning Supervision.
• Operational Planning
• Technical Support to the Airport Commissioning and Operational Readiness Teams.

I was responsible for the close-out of the project and the successful management of claims (including formal arbitration under Korean law against the Airport Authority).

I was also responsible for establishing and operating Serco’s Legal Entity (Branch Office) in Korea. This included managing all legal and financial affairs relating to statutory reporting to the Korean Authorities.
