Experience
Lead / Principal Process Engineer
Mar 2012
— Jul 2016
Worked as a Lead Engineer for Saudi Aramco “Safaniya-3” project. The project scope involved work on total of 26 new and existing production platforms spread across four fields along with the pipelines carrying oil production to onshore facilities. Took initiative and did study to reduce flange rating from 1500# to 900# on all Safaniya facilities and reduced flange rating for Safaniya on-shore facility.
Worked as a Lead Engineer for ADMA “4GI-WP3-3BT” project. The project scope involved work on 3 new production platforms, new gas injection platform, existing production platform and existing injection gas supply platform and a pipeline involving oil production, gas injection and gas lift.
Worked as a Lead Engineer for Saudi Aramco “Karan-45” project. The project involved 2 new production platforms and sub-sea pipeline transportation of 500 MMSCFD of gas from these platforms to on-shore.
Worked as Lead Engineer for doing FEED for Alternate Gas/Water Injection project and Fuel Gas Filter project for Dubai Petroleum (DP). These were EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) projects.
Giving technical guidance on process related issues to Lead Engineer for Saudi Aramco “Safaniya-2” project. The project involved 3 new platforms and upgradation of 4 existing platforms and transportation of 100000 bpd of oil and associated gas through sub-sea pipelines.
Worked as a Lead Engineer for doing FEED for RasGas “Barzan Helideck modification” project. The project involves new helideck along with modification of existing facilities.
Has worked on more than 15 proposals that the company has bid till date.
Senior Development Engineer / Senior Facilities Engineer
Aug 2007
— Nov 2011
Identified the constraints that inhibit production and made recommendations to remove them for three separate facilities. Successful implementation was done in one facility where liquid production increased by about 17000 bpd.
Developed process control scheme for Production Separator that would result in improved operation of Production Separators. Worked on Utilities and stopped two operating pumps and shut down one power generator.
Conceptualized and initiated a project that would increase the water treatment capacity by 40000 bpd with nominal capital cost which envisaged making use of existing equipment meant for other purpose.
Managed to reduce fuel gas consumption by 0.8 MMSCFD by updating the load-shed logic and stopping one operating power generator. Stopped operation of two pumps without affecting the overall process and reduced power consumption by 400 kW. Also worked on similar load-shed logic in another facility.
Reduced the discharge pressure of gas-lift compressor trains and improved its performance. Also worked on segregation of gas compressor trains to reduce the overall utility consumption of compressor trains.
Developed a cost-effective scheme to reduce the possibility of hydrate formation in gas lift lines in the facility. This scheme reduced the amount of chemical injection and thus reduced operating costs.
Senior Process Engineer
May 2004
— Jun 2007
The other projects (see details below) done were for client Petroleum Development Oman, LLC.
Worked on four major projects in Lekhwair area related to Water Injection. Work involves doing basic engineering design, developing a control philosophy and generation of AFC package for EPC contractor. Took initiative and developed an alternative water treatment scheme to limit oil in water concentration in over-board water and reduce capital / operating costs by about 40%.
Worked on other six small projects, which include “Relief Valve Rationalization project”, “Marmul Water Injection Wells Automation”, “Birba Gathering Station Wells Hook Ups”, “Yibal ‘A’ bypass project”, Budne-1 well hook-up and Sahma booster station expansion. Work involves doing basic engineering design and generating FEED package for EPC contractor.
Senior Process Engineer
Apr 2003
— Apr 2004
Completed the FEED work on “CDU revamp Package” and on “Isomerization FEED Package” for Oman Refinery Co. LLC. Work involved making FEED package for these 2 projects.
Completed the work on Lekhwair – Dhulaima gas / injection water pipelines for PDO, Oman
Also worked on other small oil-gas pipeline projects and proposals in the company.
Assistant Process Manager
Oct 1992
— Mar 2003
Worked as Lead Engineer and Commissioning Engineer on “10000 Ton Ammonia Storage” for Sanjana Cryogenic Storages Ltd. and successfully commissioned this facility. Single-handedly completed process design and actively involved right from proposal stage to commissioning stage. Instrumental in reducing project /operating cost by doing process optimization by minimizing size and number of equipment.
Worked in Toyo Engineering Corp (TEC), Japan on Kertih Aromatics project to manufacture 420,000 tpa of paraxylene for Petronas Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia. This project included refinery CDU section as well as section to produce benzene. Took initiative and made a proposal which will eliminate the need for two air-cooled heat exchangers and reduce the size of two cooling water exchangers.
Worked on “1175 X 2 tpd Urea Plant” project for Chambal Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd., Kota, Rajasthan.
Completed work on “100000 tpa Polypropylene Plant” project for Petrochemical Industries Corp., Kuwait. The project includes the main plant and offsites. Took initiative and made a proposal for optimizing the plant design, that would reduce in operating costs by about US $100,000/ year.
Worked for “Dew Point Control Unit -II” project for Petronas Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia.
Worked on “2500 tpa Extreme Pressure Additive” project for Lubrizol India Ltd. The project included the main plant and offsites including utilities.
Worked on “1000 tpa Isobutyl Benzene manufacturing facility” project for Vinati Organics Ltd. and developed a innovative scheme in which the propylene (25% of the total feed propylene) which was flared, was recycled back resulting in the savings to the tune of US $1 million per year.
Worked on many proposals and concept studies during the ten-year tenure in the company.
Had taken initiative and developed a variety of chemical engineering software including a software package for flare header network system (TEC, Japan purchased this software after evaluation).
