Working with Bureau Veritas clients as a Third/Second Party Inspector for industrial and commercial building projects for the control of quality and compliance to project specified standards and specifications; And In-service inspections of boilers and other pressure vessels for maintaining the quality and safety of the process. Main responsibilities and duties involve,
■ In construction:
 Review project specification and inspection test plan prepared before the pre-inspection meeting.
 Review approved quality plans, manuals and drawings with respect to scope of work to perform the required inspection.
 Attending pre inspection meetings.
 Verifying isometric drawing with respect of P&ID.
 Material verification by reviewing the MTC’s and carrying out Material Inspection for traceability, dimensions and surface quality.
 Consumables inspection to verify the compliance with standards (ASME Sec II Part C & AWS) as required by project specification.
 Monitoring baking, holding temperature and time for filler metals as per manufacturer recommendation.
 Monitoring calibration status of welding machine, inspection testing tools and pressure gauges.
 Witnessing sampling of material for laboratory test.
 Witnessing positive material identification (PMI) for chemical analysis verification.
 Witnessing laboratory tests including tensile, impact and other tests for material compliance with project specified standards (ASME, ASTM, BS, EN, JIS, ISO, DIN) and witnessing test coupons tested in laboratory (ASME IX/AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.4) for WPS/PQR and WQT
 Witnessing welding on WQT & PQR test coupons, and review respective documents (ASME IX/AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.4).
 Fit up inspections at various stages and final dimensional inspection for steel structures, pipe spools, pipe fittings and above ground storage tanks (AWS D1.1, D1.2 & D1.4, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3 and API 650).
 Review weld map and radiographic test sketch.
 Stage wise and final weld visual inspections.
 Witness NDT (Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection, and Dye Penetrant Testing) & Hardness Test for welded connections; tightening torque inspection for bolts; and bend or hammer test for shear studs.
 Radiographic films interpretation and review of other NDT reports.
 Review hydro test packages, line check and punch lists.
 Witnessing hydrostatic, pneumatic and vacuum tests.
 Witness tests and various stages of inspection for Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP), Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP), Glass Reinforced Fiber Concrete (GRFC) panels as per quality requirements.
 Reporting daily, weekly or monthly basis as per client/project specification and review of other relevant documents including calibration certificates and daily logs of inspection.
 Raise NCR (Non-conformance report) for violation found during inspection and monitor satisfactory closeout of identified non-conformance.
 Ensuring the work is performed in accordance with the project specification, quality control plan, method of statement, and ITP.
 Monitoring coating activities including ambient conditions, surface temperature, surface contaminations and perform required tests for invisible contaminants like soluble salt testing.
 Checking abrasives, anchor profile and cleanliness of the surface prepared.
 Monitoring coating system including mixing ratio, ambient conditions, pot life, induction time and overcoat window and painted surfaces for required thickness using proper instruments.
■ In-service:
 Review the current operating certificate and compare the information to the associated boiler/vessel and its nameplate.
 Review pressure safety calibration certificates and verify them with respective tag/nameplate.
 Visual inspection of vessel interior walls for signs of corrosion and other connections for deposits due to combustion gases.
 Check external supports, mounting brackets, associated structures, cladding and insulation.
 Witness thickness measurement of pressure vessel dish head, shell and other connecting pipelines using UT thickness gauge.
 Witness NDT (dye penetrant test) on welded joints.
 Review NDT reports & other documents.
