Job Responsibilities as Procurement Engineer:
• Analyze all suppliers in order to select the most suitable suppliers who are able to deliver high quality products at competitive pricing.
• Negotiate with suppliers on lead-time, cost and quality so as to obtain the maximum benefit for the company.
• Manage suppliers to meet objectives related to cost, delivery performance, schedule and quality.
• Develop purchasing or sourcing strategies based on portfolio analyses and supplier preferencing study.
• Define and maintain documented category and supplier strategies using market and competitive data.
• Liaise with suppliers on delivery schedule so as to ensure on-time deliveries of final product.
• Develop, implement and drive the procurement strategies in order to meet cost savings targets.
• Review and manage the supplier base to ensure consistency with the sourcing strategy.
• Perform regular performance review with suppliers to drive continuous improvements.
• Create monthly performance reviews and reports focusing on overall sourcing requirements.

• Preparation of detailed take off of materials.
• Preparation of detailed labor estimates utilizing man-hours, crews and equipment.
• Organization of material and labor information for pricing.
• Solicit material prices from suppliers.
• Obtaining current labor rates.
• Preparation of unit prices by "Building the Project"
• Verifying and comparing unit prices or the price of a system with a subcontractor and previous similar estimates.
• Reviewing all unit pricing on projects prepared by the Junior Estimator. Making changes as required.
• Understanding the influence of market conditions on pricing.
• Tracking of all current market conditions.
• Developing estimation database line items, unit costs, systems and assemblies, templates and wizards to prepare accurate estimates.
Preconstruction Abilities
• Identifying the information required in pre-construction for pricing of estimates.
• Set up and facilitate pre-construction workshops; coordinate information with consultants.
• Represent SCCI at pre-construction meetings.
• Outline the guidelines for conceptual, SD, DD, CD, and GMP estimating.
• Preparing Value Engineering.
• Preparing qualifications and assumptions for the estimates.
• Preparing estimate updates and reconciliations.
• Knowing the proper use of allowances in estimating during pre-con.
• Preparing Systems Analyses as requested by Clients.
• Preparing Systems Life Cycle Cost studies as requested by Clients.
Bid Day Activities
• Run through the estimate the night before it is due.
• Checking all spread sheet formulas and insert plug numbers into all trades on the bid summary sheet to obtain a total.
• Working to close out subcontractor spread sheets.
• Assuring that the bid package is complete with all required signed and sealed bid forms.
Post Bid Activities
• Attending review meetings with client/Consultant.
• If called to the table or awarded the bid, review the estimate and discuss strategy with the team for any holes, value management, or potential profit pockets.
• Attending weekly staff meetings and report on status of assignments.
