Summary

I am an educator currently living and teaching in Thailand. I have been working in education for over 10 years now in various positions, locations, and settings. During that time I have grown as an educator and developed my skills through education and practice. Coming from a Masters of Education program in the United States, I learned a lot about teaching styles, structures, and best practices, and while living and teaching in Thailand and the United States I have been able to put these into practice to develop and refine my understanding into something I love doing.

I teach 1-on-1 English lessons to Chinese students via an online classroom platform. I prepare exercises and practice for my students within the lessons provided. My time with this program has allowed me to learn about the culture and educational expectations of Chinese families, society, and the government. I have had the opportunity to get to teach students from all over China, and build relationships with the children and families that have requested me as their full-time/preferred teacher.

I teach at a rural Government school. I have taught students in the following subjects: English, Science, Math, Computer, Health and PE, and Art (all in English.) I am a part of the English department, where we focus on improving and implementing the Thai Ministry of Education curriculum to the students. I have worked on programs to better the school and improve student achievement. On a team I created an audio/visual learning tool to provide students an opportunity for better vocabulary activities. I represented the school at a regional education expo to showcase the work I did to enhance the digital learning experiences of my students using an interactive whiteboard. In all my years teaching English to students who took the national exam (O-NET,) there was improvement in test scores from the previous year.

I teach migrant and refugee students English, Reading, Science, Math, and Education courses, among other out-of-school activities. I developed and edited curriculum, designed student-focused lessons, and fulfilled all the responsibilities of a classroom teacher. In addition, I also had a leadership role as the Department Head for the Science department. In that position, I led Professional Development, teacher training, and monthly meeting, and I also conducted teacher evaluations
