Systems included ABB 800xA DCS (Fieldbus based), Honeywell Experion DCS (Fieldbus), Honeywell Safety Managers, modifications to existing ESD systems like ABB AUGUST, ICS Triplex and HIMA systems and Condition Monitoring Systems.
My responsibilities broadly included;
• Lead a team of engineers which includes project INTOOLS administrator for the efficient control of system databases with control system vendors.
• Preparation of specifications, Inquiry Requisitions, Technical Evaluation and Purchase Requisitions for DCS, ESD, F&G and SCADA systems.
• Coordinate with procurement team till the finalization of the order and also for any change orders that may arise during the work.
• Coordinate with other team members for finalization of various inputs to the control system vendors.
• Act as nodal engineering contact with the vendor through out the execution of the job.
• Obtain appropriate resources and facilities from the discipline head for performing engineering, FAT, field engineering assistance and upto SAT and report / identify gaps for their action.

• System engineering for DCS / PLC involving review of the input documents prepared by engineers namely Point Data Base, Functional Schematics, Logic Diagram.

• Review of field engineering documents including control room / LER sizing, MCT sizing etc.
• Preparation / Review of inputs from other departments and inter-department coordination for smooth execution of the project.

• Have been part of various DCS revamp projects (pneumatic to DCS – hybrid change over) executed by EIL with limited shutdown requirement to minimize the plant downtime.
In addition to various projects execution, was also involved in proposal engineering for a large EPC refinery modernization project in Libya.
On deputation to Qatar Petroleum, was responsible for the coordination, engineering, installation and commissioning of instrumentation works executed by LG Engineering & Construction, Korea.
My responsibilities broadly included;
• Day to day coordination with Mesaieed Refinery Operations, core project group and LG E&C for the engineering and execution of Refinery III Expansion Project.
• Planned & executed FAT of DCS / ESD / F&G systems at Honeywell, Korea for 4 months (due to large size of the project) in 3 phases.
• Provide technical assistance and instrumentation interface requirements related to the instrumentation hardware for the Plant Operation Information Systems, Refinery Information System and Plant Wide information network for Qatar.
