From Nov., 2014 up to Jan., 2017, I was a consultant project manager, working with Arcadis at AL-Haram / Holy Makkah water strategic project. That complex project which is owned by National Water Company NWC, was consisting of three sub-projects, project #1 is construction of medium voltage pump-station with 1400mm transmission pipelines, project #2 is construction of four strategic Mega steel reservoirs for Al-Haram - The Holy Makkah with total capacity of 560,000m3, and project #3 is House Connections of sewerage system. The total value of the project is US$90M.
In addition to the regular daily duties as project manager, including submittals review like design, redesign, drawings, materials submittals, Method statements MoS, HSE plan, QC plan including all formats like WIR, MIR, NCR, NOC, PTW, ...etc. I paid intensive concern to build the project consistent multicultural team of 40 engineers, integrating and leading this team and demonstrating understanding of team members who may have different social and cultural backgrounds to be aware about the stakeholders’ requirements, and the project’s details to enable them to perfectly carry out day-to-day duties.
My achievement was managing to successfully close that complex vital project as per the scope and within time, cost and quality requirements and perfect EHS performance with zero accident. That great work was achieved through continues and intensive communication with the client and other stakeholders, and the competent leadership, besides other project management success factors. Accordingly, we as a project team received appreciation letter from our client for our professional performance, which led to rank our company Arcadis on the top of consultant firms in NWC’s projects in Makkah City – KSA.
