Summary

I am a Mechanical Engineer with 40 years’ experience of working on projects within the Chemical Process Plant, Materials Handling, Pharmaceuticals, Detergents Manufacturing and Water Treatment industries both in UK and Russia.

My experience includes Engineering, Procurement and Construction Projects, Front End Engineering Design studies and site based Engineering, Construction and Commissioning Projects as well as Manufacturing Plant facilities upgrade and capacity increase projects.
I have a good working knowledge of the requirements of CDM, PED, Machinery Directives, cGMP and ATEX and have also been involved in HAZOPs and Overall Project Risk Assessments.

As a Mechanical Engineer I have been responsible for the specification, requisitioning, selection and procurement activities, vendor documentation approval and design coordination for various types of equipment including pumps, fans, filters, mixers, vessels, heat exchangers, compressors, pipe pig scraping systems, conveyor systems and various packaged and skid based equipment. I have also been involved in the site construction supervision and commissioning of these equipment packages.

As a Project Engineer I have been responsible for the project design coordination, ensuring compliance with the base scope definition and constructability, compliance with clean design requirements for micro-susceptible products, managing equipment selection and procurement, overall project scheduling and involvement in FAT’s, IQ and OQ and commissioning. I was also responsible for contractor selection, supervision and control to ensure Health and Safety Standards and project quality and schedules were maintained.

EXPERIENCE
Jan 2016 – Oct 2017 - BLUE PROJECTS (Russia) - LEAD PROJECT ENGINEER
Working on assignment with Procter & Gamble (Russia). I was involved on a multi-million dollar Dry Laundry Powder Production project to convert a Big Bunker based soap powder storage facility to a more flexible buggy based storage system. This involved demolition of existing bunkers and installation of new equipment within a live operation without affecting the plant production. Additionally as Construction Manager my responsibilities included construction programming, safety and quality supervision of the civil and mechanical demolition and construction works, ensuring compliance with design and maintaining construction progress against the stretch schedule.

2011 – 2015 - Procter & Gamble (Russia) – LEAD PROJECT ENGINEER
I was involved on multi-million dollar projects to install new manufacturing and packaging facilities for liquid cleaning products which included bulk liquid unloading and storage systems, intermediate product manufacturing and storage facilities, final product making and installation of two high speed packing lines. I was also involved in the construction of a new 11m diameter Detergent Powder Drying Tower inside an existing production building.
My involvement in these projects covered the full life cycle from concept and estimation, to design, procurement and factory acceptance testing, installation and commissioning followed by IQ/OQ and handover to production. Also, as the Construction Manager my responsibilities were the selection of contractors, construction programming, safety and quality supervision of construction works, ensuring compliance with design and maintaining construction progress against the schedule.

2009 – 2011 - Procter & Gamble (Ukraine) – MECHANICAL PROJECT ENGINEER
I was involved in a project to install a complete new Dry Laundry Production plant, in Ordzhonikidze, Ukraine. My responsibilities included review of Design Documentation, Equipment Installation Supervision, Construction Safety Supervision, Inspection of Mechanical Equipment Installation, Preparation of Installation Scope Change Documentation, Static and Dynamic (IQ/OQ) Testing, Commissioning and Equipment Hand Over to Operations.

2006 – 2009 - Procter & Gamble (Russia) – MECHANICAL PROJECT ENGINEER
I was involved in several projects bringing new products to the plant, in Novomoskovsk, Russia, and increasing manufacturing capacity of established products, from concept/estimate stage through procurement and installation to testing, commissioning and start up. Project scopes included Unloading and Bulk Storage Systems for hazardous chemicals, intermediate storage and dosing systems, Batch and CLP Mixing Processes and Product Packing Lines. Responsibilities included checking and approving design packages from the local Project Design Company, preparing cost estimates, equipment specifications and enquiries, installation specifications, safety and construction supervision and management of all construction activities..

2003 – 2006 - Haden Freeman Ltd - PRINCIPAL MECHANICAL ENGINEER
ALLIANCE MANAGER responsible for a multi-discipline team, engineering plant upgrade and equipment replacement projects, from preparation of cost and manhour estimates and negotiation with the client through the design and procurement phase to completion of installation and final handover.
Other responsibilities included the specification/procurement of mechanical and packaged equipment, vessels and heat exchangers producing datasheets, specifications and procurement requisitions, vendor selection, bid evaluation and approval of vendor technical documentation.

2003 - SembCorp Simon-Carves Ltd - SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
I was involved in the Front End Engineering Design for a Carbon Black Manufacturing Facility responsible for the preparation of equipment cost and man-hour estimates and preparation of the equipment specifications and enquiry documents for the Carbon Black Processing and Materials Handling Equipment.

2002 – 2003 - Haden Freeman Ltd - SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Responsible for producing technical specifications and equipment datasheets, preparation of equipment requisitions, vendor selection, expediting bids, bid evaluation and approval of vendor technical documentation.

2000 – 2002 - Jacobs Engineering Ltd - SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Involvement on several pharmaceutical projects including site based projects at the AstraZeneca, Macclesfield Plant responsible for the design, specification and procurement of equipment for various new and revamp projects. Additional Lead Engineer responsibilities included the supervision of a team of engineers controlling both manhours and cost budgets and the preparation of new project estimates.

1999 – 2000 - Simon-Carves Ltd - SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Responsible for producing technical specifications and equipment datasheets, preparation of equipment requisitions, bid evaluation, processing orders through to completion and expediting and approval of vendor technical documentation for various types of equipment for an Agrochemicals Plant.

1999 - Procter & Gamble Product Supply Ltd - PROJECT ENGINEER
I was responsible for the management and execution of various projects for the manufacture, storage and packaging of Synthetic Powder Detergents through to handover to Operations upon successful acceptance trials. Responsibilities included cost and schedule management, preparation of enquiry documents and specifications for equipment and installation services, supervision and co-ordination of the design works, plant layout and finalisation of P&ID’s, management of the installation contractors and involvement in commissioning work.

1997 – 1998 - Procter & Gamble (Russia) - PROJECT ENGINEER & CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
Responsible for the installation of two bleach manufacturing lines from concept through to start up of production at the manufacturing facility in Novomoskovsk, Russia. Both production lines were completed on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities included the co-ordination of the design works, plant layout and finalisation of the P&ID’s, equipment and installation services procurement, preparation of installation specifications and work scopes, supervision of Mechanical, Civils and Electrical Installation and Commissioning Work with responsibility for Safety, Schedule and Budget Control. Duties also included training the plant Project Manager and local labour, liaison during Custom Clearance of imported equipment and obtaining Local Authority Health & Safety permits and Industry Licenses.

1996 – 1997 - Simon-Carves Ltd - SENIOR MACHINERY ENGINEER
I was involved on an Agrochemicals Plant Project responsible for producing technical specifications and equipment datasheets, selection of vendors, preparation of equipment requisitions, bid evaluation, processing orders through to completion, expediting and approval of vendor technical documentation whilst liaising with other disciplines to ensure that the equipment and full technical documentation is purchased within budget and to schedule.

1993 – 1996 - Jacobs Engineering - SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER
(Formerly Humphreys & Glasgow Process Contracting Ltd incorporating Anglian H & G Ltd)
I was involved on various Materials Handling, Water Treatment and Chemical Process Plant Projects including front end design studies whilst liaising with other disciplines to ensure correctness of design and that the equipment and full technical documentation was purchased within budget and to schedule.
Additional duties included being LEAD ENGINEER responsible for both man-hour and cost budget control and SITE MECHANICAL ENGINEER (1994 - 1995) supervising the Mechanical and Piping Subcontractor ensuring that the installation was completed on time and within budget, to the required standard of quality whilst working in a safe and controlled manner.
