Released from Intership LTD as HLO/Safety Officer in Angola Block 17 for Total, due to end of contract, January 2017.
Released from Ocean Rig on the 21st Jan 2015, due to market forces down turn within the oil industry. My position was as QHSE Advisor/Safety Officer on the Ocean Rig Skyros – 7th gen, dual activity, UDW drillship, drilling offshore Angola.
30 years oil industry experience with 6 years Royal Air Force service.
Formerly working in the North & Southern sectors of the North Sea, & the last 14 years as QHSE Advisor /Rig Safety Training Coordinator working in West Africa (Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Angola, Ivory Coast, Tanzania) plus work experience in Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka & Gulf of Mexico.
Extensive shipyard experience, Veroom Boteg, Holland, Sharjah Shipyard UAE & Samsung Heavy Industries Shipyard South Korea.
Background is predominately derived from the drilling sector with experience on fixed platforms, semi submersibles, jack-up rigs, tender barges, land rigs and dynamic positioned dual activity drill ships.
Currently trained across a range of QHSE disciplines including: Management of Major Emergencies, Major Incident Investigation, HSE Reporting System Development (START, THINK, FOCUS, ASA), Provision of all competency based training objectives. Stage 3 Crane Operators licence.
Since entering the HSE division of the oil industry I have been applying my practical experience & exposure to enhance the QHSE perspective of drilling operations, my main aim being that 'no one gets hurt' & providing safety training as per the company’s/clients remit.
Working with multi-national crews, mentoring & coaching them into a safe & efficient team, resulting with them having an appreciation & understanding of the clients Safety Management System have been my main goals.
