Summary

I have a total of 8 years experience in GCC- construction industry. Started off my career as Site Engineer with Carillion Alawi LLC in Muscat; joined Al Futtaim Carillion as Senior Site Engineer in Dubai, upon completion of my post graduation in Advanced Construction Management from NICMAR, India.

Last 4 years I was working with Carillion Alawi LLC in Muscat as Site Manager, reporting to Operations Manager, in charge of North area PDO development projects. In this role, I was involved in project identification, project bidding, preparing project packs including MEP and Fit out , project execution and closing out projects.

Reporting to Operations Manager for PDO Projects (oil and gas industry). Primary responsibility included identifying, proposing, estimating, developing and maintaining the client’s requirements for infrastructure/ facilities development for PDO’s on-shore operations. Was in-charge of North/ Coastal area operations in developing scope, scheduling, executing, monitoring and handing-over of key projects. Managed a team of 80-120 members along five major locations.

Key responsibilities:
o Coordinating with Front End Engineering Design (FEED) team, approving the proposed construction drawing.
o Cascading the feedback from the design team for further changes and approval.
o Illustrating the project requirement to the site team as per the BOQ and specification
o Spearhead in preparation and managed all construction packs related to the projects
o Identified project resources, sub-contractor jobs and sub-contractors as per the PDO norms
o Identified project integrity and defined whether the project shall be self-delivered or through sub-contractors
o Establishment of construction program from tender program, and developing construction program with agreed milestones
o Efficiently executed project schedules as per the construction program by monitoring and controlling the site resources
o Provided first hand support to the execution team for site queries and conducting inspections
o Coordinated with MEP team and assisted the construction activities related to building services
o Efficiently managed handing over and close out documents and coordinated for end-user requirements
o Assisted the estimation team by preparing scope of work, BOQ, concept drawings as per end user requirement and all the support details needed for pricing
o Efficiently prepared comparative statement of different entries and finalized the sub-contractor, conducted pre-let meeting with eligible contractors, etc.
o Successfully coordinated with delivery of supply materials
o Spearhead in monitoring the site team allocated for each contractor and conducted progress meetings with the end user and contractor
o Reported area wise status to Operations Manager on weekly basis

Major Projects
Project: Bait Al Bushra (Office facility for PDO Coastal)
Scope: The office building consisted of 3 blocks in two floors, facilitating office arrangement for 600 PDO employees, along with conference rooms, meeting rooms dedicated to each department, pantries and cafeteria, extended over 9600sqm. The whole structure is developed over LGS frame with provision for MEP services and automated security system.
Role: As site manager, my role comprised of concept development, closely working with PDO FEED office for design approval, developing the project schedule, finalizing the subcontractors, site supervision, conducting the coordination meetings, stage wise handing over of the project, preparing and addressing the snags.

Project: Extension of Fahud & Qarn al Alam Airport;
Scope: The scope of the project was to identify the extra space required for allocating ROP office and Airport security office, by modifying the existing layout without hindering the day-today airport operations.
Role: Coordinating design approvals for the new provision with the civil aviation department., adhering to the norms of PDO contracts. Managing the site supervision emphasizing on the key dates and deliverables. Synchronization with the suppliers and sub-contractors were crucial, which was handled carefully with precision reporting to the management.

Project: Yibal & Lekhwair Camp Accommodation Buildings:
Scope: With the expansion of PDO operation, the need for additional accommodation for the operational staffs were identified in the North area. The building consisted of single accommodation facilities with attached bath area for 80 additional staff. The complex consisted of 40 rooms in each floor, with auxiliary services, in the existing residential area. The project was carried out by Carillion identified contractor through bidding process, which comes under Carillion’s direct supervision works.
Role: Initial design approval with the FEED office. Preparation of techno-commercial comparison report, coordinating with the commercial team in selecting the appropriate contractors, and also coordinating with the procurement department and client engineers for finalizing the contractor. Supervising the contractor’s performance in various execution aspects, conducting site inspections and organizing weekly client meeting. Preparation of snag list and area wise closing out report.

Project: Yibal/Fahud Kitchen:
Scope: Providing a new kitchen with ambient space for kitchen appliances and cooking area, with centralized LPG connection, store area, designated salad preparation room, dishwash area, refrigeration room and chef’s office, with joinery and interior fit out works. The scope also included connection of the drainage and garbage to the central collection network.
Role: Prepared the project scope, conducted site survey by collecting the existing and future requirements. Coordinated with the design team for developing drawings and received subsequent approval from the client team. Monitored the site activities and ensured the agreed milestones are achieved. Spearhead material approval process and placed the order, and managed delivery and installation at site. Prepared the project close-out report.

Project: Al Mouj Retail Center – The Wave
Scope: The main work consisted of the construction of four storey Village Retail Centre (V24) for The Wave Muscat. It included 3028m2 retail space on ground and first floor, 1560m2 supermarket on first floor, 6280m2 commercial space on first, second and third floor and 15200m2 parking area in ground and first floor. Block is positioned at the junction of the East west spine road and Central Boulevard.
Role: As part of specialty work division, a subsidiary to main contract, I handled the interior fit out package, including internal wall claddings, false ceiling installation, gypsum wall partition, internal paintings for both the retail center and the residential blocks.
