Experience

Sadara Chemicals Company
Senior Specialist Engineer

   Jan 2014
— Current

Started at Sadara in January 2014 in the Pre-Commissioning stage of the project as Senior Steam Turbine and Compressor Engineer, for Hydrocarbons, this was a very exciting stage of the project, many challenges as this was the biggest single build Petrochemical Complex in the world, and still is. Developing Procedures for Commissioning and Start-up of the Mixed Feed Cracker, Cryogenic Tank Farm, Aromatics and Feed Stock Tank Farm, the heart of the Plant, which now is supplying Ethylene and Propylene, PyGas, Benzene, Toluene and many more derivatives to the Isocyanates, Chem. I, II, and III, Plastics etc.
The job scope has changed since commencing with Sadara, Given greater responsibility, and varying job roles, which has been testing but very exhilarating, providing guidance through safety critical stages of the development, enabling safety mechanisms and standards, standardising auditing procedures, and safety specific awareness programmes.
During this time, actively leading the development of Safe Working Procedures for Start-Up and Maintenance of the Hydrocarbon equipment, and have been guiding, training and mentoring young engineers from many countries and especially young Saudi Engineers. Using my extensive knowledge of the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical Industries gained from many countries, utilising my Training, Mechanical, and Safety Qualifications, to enhance the knowledge and ability of these future senior engineers.
In spare time at home, studied the NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety at Level 6, passed with credit in 2016. Completed the NEBOSH International Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, passed in 2014 with credit. The PTLLS, Preparing to teach in the Life Long Learning Sector, and the Award in Understanding the Principles and Practice of Assessment, both at education certificate Level 3. Studied and passed IOSH, Working Safely and Managing Safely Certificates.
This time has been one of the most satisfying, rewarding, and challenging work experiences I have had, it is a shame that I have to leave such a wonderful team, but my contract period has run its course, even after an extension to my contract from KBR, and an extension to Direct Contract, it is now nearing the end.
